FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, USA – November 1, 2006 – Invensys Process Systems’ pharmaceutical industry specialists will present enterprise performance management solutions in several different venues at this year’s International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s (ISPE) Annual Meeting in Orlando. These include a seminar on operational and business excellence on November 5th, a technical presentation on enterprise control solutions for the pharmaceutical industry on November 7th, and exhibits on enterprise performance optimization and validation compliance services at Booths #113 and Booth # 314, respectively.
“Many pharmaceutical engineers will be coming to this year’s annual meeting looking for ideas on how to apply new, enterprise-wide technologies for increasing plant performance,” said Janice Abel, an Invensys pharmaceuticals industry consultant. “With this in mind, we’ll be discussing practical, cost-effective techniques to help integrate disparate control systems, manage knowledge more effectively, and increase visibility throughout the entire business process – from research to manufacturing through to the business.”

On November 5th, Abel will join Wyeth Biotech validation manager Cathy Middelberg in leading a seminar that will cover strategies for reevaluating the role of existing business and manufacturing systems to measure and optimize performance across the enterprise. There will be discussions on performance trends, lean manufacturing, and metrics that are being utilized by industry leaders to improve efficiencies. These include Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other powerful tools. Several case histories will be presented. Also participating in the seminar will be Gary Ward, Operations Excellence Manager, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals; Rafi Maslaton, President, CResults; and Dion B. Rasmussen, Director Consulting Management, NNE US, Inc.
Janice Abel has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, including consulting on regulatory compliance, enterprise control, and PAT. Her background also includes experience with the automation and application of pharmaceutical and biotechnology processes.
On November 7th, two other Invensys pharmaceutical industry specialists will present vendor technology sessions. The first will focus on enterprise information and integration technologies using Invensys’ InFusion enterprise control system. The second will concentrate on how the InFusion enterprise control system enables new and existing plant floor and enterprise systems to be cost-effectively integrated into a common system, helping pharmaceutical manufacturers to reduce costs and time to compliance.
In the exhibit area, Invensys will also be demonstrating the innovative InFusion enterprise control system plus related technologies from Invensys Process Systems companies. These include Foxboro’s distributed control system and new on-line training capabilities at Invensys booth # 314. Invensys will also be presenting its complete validation compliance services offering from the Invensys Validation Technologies group at booth #113.
The ISPE Annual Meeting is being held November 5-8, 2006 in Orlando, Florida, uniting industry leaders, manufacturers, and engineers to hear the latest on innovation and technology for the pharmaceutical industry.
