Needham, Mass. — September 23, 2008 — EH&E (www.eheinc.com), a leading provider of environmental and engineering consulting services, has announced the expansion of its sustainability in higher education services to help colleges and universities meet their campus sustainability goals.
The company also announced that Mike Crowley, formerly of Harvard’s Green Campus Initiative, has joined EH&E to lead its Campus Sustainability program.
“Colleges and universities across the country are making public commitments to significantly reduce their campus carbon footprint by eliminating wasteful energy consumption” says John McCarthy, President of EH&E.
“EH&E’s demonstrated expertise in maximizing building performance to meet energy and investment goals, and our close ties to many of these institutions, puts us in a perfect position to help. Mike’s professional expertise, and particularly his experience as assistant director of Harvard’s Green Campus Initiative, will allow us to further enhance our program offerings supporting sustainability in higher education,” McCarthy said.
Crowley’s experience also forms the basis of EH&E’s launch of a four-part webinar series focused on sustainability in higher education issues, titled “Pathways to Campus Sustainability.” The series highlights key issues faced in the development of a campus sustainability program, and draws heavily both on Crowley’s own experience as well as colleagues at other institution to demonstrate how cultural differences within institutions can be used to influence, and benefit, from reducing an institution’s campus carbon footprint. College and universities are realizing tangible benefits from establishing campus sustainability programs to reduce their campus carbon footprint, which not only result in significant energy and resource savings, but have positively impact recruitment, campus morale, and public relations. Recent initiatives, such as the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), have significantly raised the bar on these programs, McCarthy noted.
