FEBRUARY 18, 2010/PLANO, TEXAS – Invensys Operations Management, a global provider of technology systems and software solutions to the process and manufacturing industries, today announced that Control Engineering magazine has selected its Wonderware® Intelligence 1.0 solution as the winner of the Dashboard Software – General category in this year’s Engineers’ Choice Awards. In addition, the Wonderware Corporate Energy Management application was named runner up in the Dashboard Software, Energy category and the EYESIM™ Immersive Training solution was named runner up in the Design, Simulation, Diagnostics category.
“Winning the Engineers’ Choice Award is a significant achievement since those voting are professional engineers who use these products everyday,” said Maryanne Steidinger, product marketing director, Invensys
Operations Management. “Many are part of their company’s selection and development process for instrumentation, controls and automation systems. They are industry experts who know what tools are needed to improve the excellence of their overall operations, particularly as using real-time data becomes the key to achieving long- and short-term business objectives.”
The Wonderware Intelligence 1.0 solution was recognized by Control Engineering readers as an easy-to-use enterprise manufacturing intelligence application that enables customers to contextualize, aggregate and report both historian and operational data using role-based dashboards. It provides key performance indicators and real-time operational business metrics that are used to monitor, tune and optimize operations and supply chains. The software transforms data and information from multiple sources into business intelligence by aggregating process and production data in real time and adding contextual elements, such as equipment, product, work orders, material and personnel, enabling users to gain insights into the root causes of problems.
Invensys also was recognized for its innovative EYESIM and the Wonderware Corporate Energy Management applications. EYESIM is the first virtual reality training solution based on first-principle simulation and augmented reality. The solution enables engineers and operators to see and safely interact with the plant and the processes they control. The Wonderware Corporate Energy Management application enables manufacturing and industrial automation customers to easily and quickly implement an energy-management program to achieve sustainability goals and respond better to energy consumption challenges. It allows users to monitor energy and detect and notify personnel of energy inefficiencies.
The Engineers’ Choice Award winners are selected by the magazine’s readership from ballots that were divided into various topics and subtopics, including Process Control, Hardware & Software, Discrete Control Components and Network Integration. Winning entries were based on overall service to the industry, technological advancement and market impact. In 2010, 96 new products were nominated in 29 subcategories with each subcategory having a least three products nominated for consideration. More than 600 ballots were received with one award winner and one honorable mention named in each subcategory.
