PRO/II 8.2 simulation software includes improvements for modeling heavy oils and electrolytic systems and for generating pure component properties. The PRO/II 8.2 simulator improves heavy-oils modeling with the addition of a new liquid viscosity prediction method that prevents viscosity from being skewed by the heaviest petroleum component. PRO/II 8.2 software has also integrated the Mixed Solvent Electrolyte model, the latest electrolyte model from OLI Systems, capable of reproducing speciation, chemical and phase equilibria, applicable to water-organic-salt systems and aqueous solutions from dilute to the fused-salt limit.

The newest version of the software is also integrated with ProPred, a property prediction tool from the Computer Aided Process-Product Engineering Center of the Technical University of Denmark that allows pure component properties to be predicted from structure based on a multi-level group contribution method and can be used directly with PRO/II software.

“PRO/II 8.2 software shows our dedication to both the hydrocarbon and chemicals processing industries. We have developed features for each industry, as well as introduced features and infrastructure upgrades that will enhance the user experience of all of our customers,” said Joseph McMullen, PES Product Manager for IPS. “Our technological advancements in the area of modeling heavy oils truly set PRO/II simulation software apart from the competition, which continues to have issues accurately modeling heavy oils.”

The new integration with Microsoft Vista Enterprise & Business operating systems and support for Microsoft Office 2007 means that IPS clients can now integrate simulation and modeling functionality and data more easily with other enterprise applications.

Chemoprojekt Selects Invensys Integrated LifeCycle Engineering, Simulation and Optimization Software for Projects Worldwide

–Fully Integrated Suite of Solutions to Address Front-End Process Engineering Design Needs–

Foxboro, Massachusetts, USA – December 5, 2007 – Invensys Process Systems today announced it has renewed and expanded its simulation software licensing agreement with Prague-based Chemoprojekt. Chemoprojekt is one of Central Europe’s premier engineering, construction, and project management companies. The new agreement extends the Chemoprojekt license to use SimSci-Esscor’s simulation, modeling and optimization solutions. Through the new agreement Chemoprojekt will also license the rights to the Comos LifeCycle Engineering platform for front-end engineering design (FEED).

The new contract underscores Chemoprojekt’s continued implementation of the Comos platform, which it began using in 2005. In addition to extending the existing software contract, the new agreement augments a long-term collaborative relationship between the two companies and provides Chemoprojekt with added engineering efficiency in using the SimSci-Esscor PRO/II process simulation software.

“The addition of Comos to the SimSci-Esscor full suite of products enables Chemoprojekt to significantly increase engineering productivity while benefiting from the use of integrated simulation technology,” said Tobias Scheele, vice president of the SimSci-Esscor simulation product line. “The new agreement enables Chemoprojekt’s engineers to integrate their IT tools and existing engineering into a single, integrated database.”

“Our objective with this contract is to continue to reduce the time it takes us to carry out a project,” said Jiri Kominek, chief information officer at Chemoprojekt. “We want to promote the true integration of data that Comos can offer. Comos has allowed us to reduce project execution time at Chemoprojekt significantly.”

The Comos platform is the result of a joint alliance between Invensys Process Systems and innotec GmbH, a software development firm specializing in process-oriented plant construction, operation and maintenance. The platform enables interfacing with commonly used process-engineering applications, which improves data, document and knowledge management, as well as integration of process-engineering activities. Seamless integration with the SimSci-Esscor PRO/II process simulation software allows the import of simulation data during scope and conceptual development, as well as throughout the preliminary engineering phases of a project. The system provides multi-discipline engineers with a concurrent, distributed and collaborative environment in which to manipulate or augment simulation data. It also manages non-simulation data for defining process flow and equipment specifications.

Invensys to implement Operator Training Simulator for Sinclair Refinery in Wyoming

– Invensys solution to include SimSci-Esscor DYNSIM process simulation and FSIM Plus controls simulation, supporting a variety of operator training functions –

FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, USA – JUNE 5, 2007Invensys Process Systems has been awarded a contract from Sinclair Oil Corporation for a SimSci-Esscor Operating Training Simulator (OTS) to be implemented at the Sinclair refinery near Rawlins, Wyoming. Advanced dynamic simulation technology in the new OTS will allow Sinclair’s Wyoming Refinery to train operators on all aspects of plant operations and controls, as well as start-up, shutdown and emergency situation management of the refinery’s newly constructed delayed coker unit.

“Sinclair Wyoming Refinery selected Invensys’ OTS solution based on its ability to integrate easily and be compatible with our existing control system,” said Ed Juno, Operations Manager at Sinclair Wyoming Refining Company.

The Invensys OTS solution will include SimSci-Esscor DYNSIM simulation software for high fidelity process modeling of all plant processes. The OTS will play an important role at the refinery, as the new delayed coker unit is the first such unit installed at the facility. The simulator will help accelerate commissioning of the new unit.

The Sinclair Wyoming Refinery currently employs Foxboro I/A Series distributed control systems (DCS) throughout the facility, and the new software implementation will include the FSIM Plus solution that simulates the Foxboro DCS, facilitating controls checkout and related operator functions. The operations and controls simulation solution is integrated by the SimSci-Esscor SIM4ME common user environment. Invensys will provide a range of professional services in connection with the OTS implementation.
